What Actually Happened at the 2009 VMAs???

 Hello everyone!

Due to a recent request from “Hooray For Holidays,” which you should totally check out her blog, I wanted to take today’s Taylor Tuesday to explain what was the career-changing moment that happened during the 2009’s VMAs.

On September 13, 2009, the VMAs were held. I recently covered the 2022 VMAs, check it out if you haven’t, but comparing the two, they were not done much differently.

Taylor Swift was on stage accepting her award for “Best Video by a Female Artist” for "You Belong With Me" when Kanye (Now, Ye?) West stormed onto stage.

Including causing a massive scene, Kanye took the microphone from Taylor and said that he thought Beyoncé deserved the award.

As it would any normal person, it made Taylor incredibly upset, but she did not say much back and continued to be respectful to everyone.

Restoring faith in humanity, Beyoncé called Taylor back onto the stage when she won her award for “Video of the Year." She called Taylor back onto the stage so she could finish her acceptance speech.

Now, all of her fans know that she took inspiration from this moment and others within the Kardashian/West family and created her album “Reputation” (Spotify Link), which is my personal favorite.

What is your favorite Taylor Swift album? I would love to know in the comments, and maybe it could spark a discussion.

Maybe stemming from this, we can take a deep dive into “Reputation” (Apple Music Link) next week.

It is such a fun and crazy album, but it often gets overlooked which is incredibly disheartening.

But now, that is all for this Taylor Tuesday~

Thank you so much for tuning in, and this has been “Popin’ with Alex” (Taylor’s Version).

As always, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or ideas, please feel free to comment below, and I will be sure to get back to you!

Bring your snakes, chokers, and diamonds for next week's Taylor Tuesday...
